2012 Wrap up

So 2012 is well done and gone now being basically half way through january this blog update is well over due. But i guess better late then never ! 2012 was an epic year for riding bikes. I had my doubts coming back from a riding season in Whistler. I was plesently suprised of the riding over 2012, plently of new tricks were tried, lots of different places riden and a whole bunch of filming was done.

So i have decided to sum up my 2012 in a few photos that were taken over the year. Some of these photos have been already used in blog updates, there is still some new photos mixed in that never made the blogs.

Eagle champs was in january, for the past few years Adelaide has been holding the National Champs. In the previous years there was a jump jam held which always had a decent turn out. 2012 was much differnt, no one putting their hand up to fix the jumps up for the nationals ment there was basically no turn out except riders already racing and just looking for a fun jump. The jumps were in terrible condition but that didnt stop us having a good jump. Eagle champs was the first time i grew the nuts and tried a flip whip thats what makes it a memorable moment of the year.

Photos - Simon Cambell

Over 2012 i had plenty of really fun sessions at the local skatie. learnt a ton of new tricks and boosted a bunch of airs which i always find super fun !

Something else that happened over 2012, i was used in two Leaf cycles adds which was super cool. Even cooler because i think that in both adds the photos used could be two of my favourites taken in 2012. Both Taken by James Patterson, the first taken at easter time up in Mt Gambier and the second photo taken at Warnabool Skate park on one of the trips over to victoria during the year.

These two occations in 2012 will be some i shall never forget. The first photo was taken by Kane Naaraat at local adelaide bmxer Angus Sampson's back yard ramps, Halloween jam. I have to say it was the most rowdy druken out of control jam i have ever been to. The most epic night !
The second photo was taken by Simon Cambell up at Mt Gambier over Brads trails so much fun to ride was a fun all round trip. I always look forward to returning back to Mt Gambier to ride, always a rowdy time.

To finish of the summery of my year of 2012 ive decided to use a stage photo of one of my more hilarious crashes of the year. While filming for Where not training i had a couple of shots and trying to land the front flip which had been on the cards for a while. This one went terribly wrong after bailing out and ending up in the middle of the jumps !

Anyways that was 2012 and im so keen too see what 2013 has in store.

Gravitate 2012 & Crucial Apparel

Hey everyone,
So I'm sitting here at the moment semi-injured after having a nasty yet rather funny crash on sunday, seems like the perfect time to do a blog post! haha. So I'll just do a quick re-cap on the past couple months events

A couple weeks ago now we had an event up here in Far North Queensland called Gravitate, It's basically an event for all kinds of biking (downhill, XC, dirt jumping and everything else) It's been running for a while, and this year was definately the best by far. The dirt jump set up they had was awesome, two decent sized jumps with a nice sized rollin for speed. And the other section they had set up was a large drop into what has been dubbed the 'dirt bowl' for fairly obvious reasons, which sets you up with enough speed for a monstorous table top, so much fun!  There was even an amazing pump track in amongst the tree's with lights, so dope! It was set up like a competion but all the local riders and myself basically just went there to have fun riding together. It was such a goodnight, everyone threw down and nooone got badly hurt. I'd like to give a shout out to my good friend Beau Lynd, he absolutley killed it! I'll even chuck in a photo of him throwing down an under/cork flip on his Leaf cycles mtb plus a bunch of others from the event. And I'd just like to say a huge thanks again to all the people that helped make it happen!

Beau's cork/underflip.

David Girsch - Double whip

Myself - mid whip

Myself - tuckk

Myself - backietuckk

The dope pump track!

The Dirt Bowl!

Chris James - going large on the tabletop!

All photos are from Thanks!

In other news I'm now helping out and riding for a new up and coming clothing brand called Crucial Apparel. A close friend of mine, Lachlan Thomas has started it up and is beggining to pump out some really dope products! Meanwhile I've started out by shooting a few photos for him in one of the Crucial hoodies as a bit of advertising (Don't laugh, I'm not a model, hahah). I've only got a hoody at the moment but he's releasing a bunch of new stuff soon including singlets and hats, can't wait! So if everyone could go over to the Crucial Apparel fb page and get liking, It'd be much appreciated! Cheers guys.

Apart from that I've just been doing the usual riding every weekend with my and whenever I can, gathering photos and clips every so often and trying to keep learning. I've actually just ordered a bunch of stuff to get my bike up and ready for when I travel down to melbourne in just over 3 weeks now, So excited! It's only tyres and pegs and that kind of stuff but hopefully it will get her feeling fresh again, plus I've got some new kicks coming, 6.0's of course!

Hope you all have a lovely day/night and enjoyed the post!

Untill next time,
Zane xo

Stunts.. Dennis | Jordan | Thiago on Pinkbike

Well this is highly irritating. Last night I spent an hour and a half compiling a massive blog post to make up for my slackness lately and you know what happened? The freaking internet crashed and I lost it all, including the damn auto save! So this is attempt 2 at writing a post. Unfortunately i'm not going to put the effort in like last time but i'll try my hardest for you..

All I'm going to say is that Whistler is so god damn amazing. I spent 2 months there and i'm so sad that i'm back home.. Next year for sure, i'm going to go back there shredding!!

I was lucky enough to get there just before crankworx started. Crankworx is such a massive event with so many different things happening at once. Its amazing to see the amount of people that trip from all over the world to whistler for that week festival, bikers and just general public plague the village as it swarms with people. It was definitely an experience that's for sure!

During crankworx i chose not to ride the mountain and avoid all the squid muppets on the trails and decided to ride the park and dirt jumps instead. They were way less crowded and much more chilled which was good. Plus we had a rad crew hitting them up each day! Earlier in the trip the jumps saw so much traffic so they were kind of running pretty shitty which sucked but after the majority of people left the mountain town the jumps got fixed and stayed running well which was great.

The people i got to ride with through out my whistler stay were amazing and all shredders! There are way too many people to mention but all the guys that shredded jumps and DH with me, I love you all and can't wait to be back next year shredding the gnar with you guys (and girls) again soon!!!!!

Riding the mulch jump

Airdome sessions although i hate the place the box jumps were fun

Whistler is such an amazing place with such amazing views

After crankworx myself and some others decided to head to Silverstar for a small freeride comp. Was a long drive there and in a rented sedan with 4 people and bikes and no bike rack was kind of hard. The course was pretty rad with a boner log to berm to 2 trick jumps to a whales tail. I didn't ride to well which sucked after i fell off the boner log in practice trying to stop before the end after slipping a pedal. I may as well have tried to make the gap instead of stopping as i went to flat to my shoulder and hip. Not good! I still managed to put some runs down for the comp but took it easy with just some big nacs / tables / euro's and bars. Was good to get through the event and not actually kill myself at all haha

On the way back we managed to pile in everything once again with an added dh bike.. Have to say that was one cramped trip back to whistler!!

Once we got back to Whistler it was time to hit the bike park as most of the people and squid muppets had left after crankworx. The best thing about riding the mountain would have to be beers after a solid days riding watching the last few riders come down the trails.

The downhill in Whistler is amazing, so many different trails to choose from and such a variety in trails also. Definitely can't wait to get back next year and shred some gnar!

Damn i miss this place so much!! As if you would want to leave these views..

I managed to get one day in on a trick jump in Squamish and it deserved a backie. I've also attached a video from Dennis / Thiago / Jordan stunting this trick jump, i highly recommend you watch it!! BANGERS!

What i love about whistler is the fact you can drink the water from the streams. Straight from the glacier, super cold and clear and delicious! This was on the way to 'Hey Bud' trail which would have to be my favourite trail i rode, so fast, loamy and just down right amazing

Getting ready to drop into 'Hey Bud'

My second favourite trail on the mountain, Top Of The World, then Ride Don't Slide!! So much elevation drop its ridiculous!

Bulk Aline trains

The weather in Whistler was so weird but amazing.. After going through this fog it was a sunny 23 degrees at the top and clear as day. The cloud blanketed the whole valley, was so weird!

SO MANY SQUID MUPPETS!!!! The steeze cheese would not be impressed at all!

The best drink there is wink

My favourite brazillian Thiago! He loves to party

Miss these trimmers! Chairs up are the bomb!

And then the dream came to an end and back to reality it was, sad times =[ Managed to come up positive to explosives at Vancouver airport, so the last few hours in canada were definitely entertaining haha

Well, that's pretty much my Whistler trip in a very simple display of photos and minimalistic decriptions. Definitely can't wait to get back next year!!!!!

Star wipe... And, cut.

The fixie…

I thought it was time to get some decent photos up of my fixie up on my blog. I've been doing all of my commuting, and errands on this trusty bike for a while now. Its perfect for trips to the shops, friends places or the pub. I'm loving it!

The bike has evolved over the past year. I started out with a Leaf fork and bar stem combo. After a while i decided to pop a road fork and drop bar on it, just to see what it would ride like. I haven't turned back and have been riding it like this for the past 5-6 months.

After a touch of modification, I managed to get a pair of Truvativ Omniums in my Gypsy. Also not the limited addition Citreon Mavic Open Pro rims. I was stoked to get a pair of these of Ebay for real cheap.

I've been loving the new Tame Impala album
